On Monday night after Shane and Alyssa got home from their 1st day of school we took the kids to the fair. Samantha was excited to show all of us her quilt displayed with the 4-H stuff. When we got their her quilt had a big purple ribbon on it along with her blue one. We weren't sure what it was, but it said Best of Projects on it. Her friend Blakely who was at the fair too said it was GRAND CHAMP!! That was a nice surprise. The kids had fun looking at the exhibits, going through the petting zoo, and going on rides!

1st day of school

Today was Shane and Alyssa's first day of school. Shane is in 5th grade, and Alyssa is in Kindergarten. Shane has Mrs. Dorian for a teacher. She was also Samantha's 5th grade teacher, and Samantha loved her. Shane had a good first day, and seams to think that he will also like her. Alyssa has afternoon kindergarten with Mrs. Longpre. Alyssa was excited all day long to go to school. She kept on asking me how much longer til we can go. After lunch we finally got to go. She was so excited to meet her teacher, and she even painted her a picture on canvas of the night sky with lots of yellow stars on it and gave it to her when we got there. Alyssa was also excited because her friend Heidi Murray from church was in her class. Samantha, Mom, and Makayla walked over and picked them up on there 1st day. They talked all the way home telling us all about their day. I am so glad it went so well! AND OF COURSE MOM TOOK PICTURES!!!

Settler's Park

After a fun day at Chuck-E-Cheese, and having lunch at Burger King, we were off to the park to let the kids play and get wet. Settler's Park here in Boise is really fun for the kids. It has water that sprays up out of the ground, and buckets that fill up and drop on there heads. They all got soaking wet, and then they would dry off, and then they would go back and get wett again. They also have a fun playground, with slides, swings, monkey bars, and a tire swing (my kids favorite). They also have rocks to climb on and musical instruments for the kids to play and bang on. We were there for a few hours, and then headed home when it was time for dinner. We stopped at Little Ceasers Pizza on the way home to get dinner. The kids definately had a really fun day!

Chuck-E-Cheese

Well Grandma Hughes was in town this weekend, so that means CHUCK-E-CHEESE!!! The kids were all really excited to go, even Samantha and Shane. We met Lora and her kids there, and grandma bought the kids tons of tokens to go play with. They had fun playing the games, getting pictures taken, playing on the toys, and they even got to see Chuck-E-Cheese himself. He came out and did a fun little song with them( If your happy and you know it), and then he threw a bunch of tickets in the air that the kids could collect and turn in for prizes. After the kids had used up their tokens they all went to pick out there prizes. They got some fun stuff. Makayla had a fun time on the rides, especially when someone rode with her. She wasn't so sure what to think of Chuck-E-Cheese though.

Today Shane got his braces off. He has been soooo excited to get them off. He even made a chain to count down the days. Notice the background picture. One of the pictures has braces on and one of the pictures has braces off, but it is opposite of Shane's before and after picture. He thought it was magic!

Samantha's 4-H project

Samantha participated in 4-H this year for her first time. Her friend Shelby invited her to join their group. Shelby's mom, Renee Peugh, was their 4-H leader. Throughout the year they worked on cooking, sewing, and taking care of animals-mostly chickens. Samantha had a lot of fun, and worked hard on her 4-H project. She decided she wanted to make a frayed baby quilt for her project. It took just over 10 hours for her to complete. This included going to buy the fabric, cutting out all the squares, sewing them together, fraying the edges, washing and drying it, and picking all the lint off of it. Today I took her to the fair grounds to enter her quilt in the fair. She was interviewed and received a blue ribbon for her project. We are very proud of her. She did a wonderful job! So did all of her friends.

Why Blog???

So, why am I blogging now after 2 years of taking a break? I am now going to use my blog for my scrapbooking. My sister is going to print her blog off into a book, and I decided I am going to try it for the 2011 year. I just finished printing off my scrapbook pages for 2010, and decided a blog would probably be a lot quicker, and less expensive. So, we will see how it goes!

Makayla is now 18 months old! WOW time sure flies by! She sure is a cutie, and check out all her curls! I still can't believe how curly it is. I am so use to kids with straight hair, so it has been a lot of fun playing with it. She is now starting to walk along our coffee table. We are sooo excited for her, and can't wait til she starts walking by herself. A few days ago I was in Walmart and saw this adorable Boise State cheerleader outfit, and I had to buy it. She looks so cute in it, I had to take a bunch of pictures.

Lemonade Stand

Ice Cold Lemonade... Who wants some Ice Cold Lemonade...

O.K. so I finally gave in to my kids asking several times every year if they can sale something in the front yard. It has ranged from, homemade books written and illustrated by my kids, painted rocks, cut out hearts, old toys they don't want anymore, to lemonade and cookies. I finally gave in to the lemonade, fruity pebble krispies, and cookies. We found this little stand at the D.I. and the kids just had to have it. We set up the stand in the afternoon around 2:00 and the kids stayed outside all day until 8:30 PM (except we made them come in and eat dinner). Alyssa and Shane were very creative on ways to get costumers. Alyssa rode her bike up and down the side of the road yelling (although she doesn't need to yell her voice is loud enough as it is) Lemonade for Sale, and Shane made a huge poster and held it up while he danced around with it like the Little Ceaser Pizza guys on the side of the road. Thanks to wonderful friends and neighbors and some big tippers, the two of them came up with just over $22.00. They spilt it in half, and have counted their money over and over. I can't wait to see what they get with all their hard earned money. We did warn them that they can't do this all the time. Maybe once or twice a summer.

Supercross

Bill and the older kids headed to Utah to stay at Uncle Chris' house and go the the Supercross motorcycle race in SCL, Ut. I stayed home with Makayla knowing she probably wouldn't enjoy all the loud motorcylcles, and it also meant a little time alone for me and Makayla. This has become an annual thing, and I am sure it will continue to be. The kids had a lot of fun going to Utah to see there cousins and also going to the race.

Dying Easter Eggs

The kids really wanted to dye Easter Eggs, but we didn't have time to do it before Easter because all of my family was here and we had sooooo many other things planned. So, I decided to let them do it the day after Easter instead. They really look forward to this every year, and they have a lot of fun doing it. Makayla was too young (14 months) to dye the eggs, but she sure had a lot of fun this month playing with all the plastic eggs on the floor. It helped her a lot with tummy time, and trying to get her to crawl.

This year we had Hallie and Katelyn with us Easter Moring. They had a sleepover at our house the night before, because they had spent the whole week at Lora and Justin's. The kids were excited to have them at our house in the morning before they had to head home. Grandpa and Grandma Hughes were also here and went to church with us before they had to head home.

Easter Egg Hunt

Saturday morning our family had two Easter Egg Hunts. One was at our church after a light breakfast (muffins and bananas), and the other one was at 11:00 at Aunt Lora's house in her backyard with all the cousins. It was SUPER fun. All the kids got to find like 20-25 eggs, and a few of the eggs had money in them. What a fun time!

The Hughes family can not get together an NOT ride motorcycles! There were two days of riding. The first day was a family ride and every kid had a motorcycle to ride. It was so much fun!!

Pine Wood Derby

Shane had his pack meeting for scouts Tuesday evening when everyone was here. They all came to watch and support Shane as he raced his pine wood derby car. He made his car in the shape of a shark, and did a wonderful job painting it! He even had blood coming out of the shark's mouth. He got the idea from his cousin Caleb who had made his car like a shark too. His car got 1st place in every race it was in, but got 4th overall because of the times recorded. He was very excited his car did so good and even more excited that everyone would come and watch his car race.

Jenny and Tony got a hotel here in Boise because Tony had some meetings for work he had to go to. While he was working we were having fun and playing. We got to go swimming at their hotel two or three times during the week. The kids had a lot of fun!

Motorcycle Riding

This week my older sister, Jenny, and her family came to Boise for a week. So, when the rest of the family heard she was coming everyone headed to Boise! What a party!! We went swimming, visited the zoo, went motorcycle riding, ate out, more swimming, sleep overs, cousin time, baseball games, football games, pine wood derby, Easter egg hunt, and more. We had a really fun week! The day before Jenny got here, my parents came, so my dad, Bill, and Justin could go ride motorcycles. They took the kids out with them, and they all had a lot of fun!

Linda's 35th Birthday- April 10,2011

This year my birthday fell on a Sunday. So, for my birthday we woke up and went to church. After church I had a YW meeting, and then in the afternoon we had my birthday party. We had Lora, Justin, and their kids come over and my best friend Kristy Rowberry Martin and her family come over. It was a lot of fun! The kids were soooo excited to show me all the stuff they made and got me. Kristy brought her accordian with her and played happy birthday and sang to me. It was so fun for my kids to see. They loved it. She did that last year for my birthday, and they were hoping she would do it again. After we opened my presents we had chocolat pie, cupcakes, and icecream. It was very yummy! I had a wonderful day!

McCall Trip

We decided to take a little vacation over general conference weekend to McCall Idaho. We left Friday April 1st and came home Sunday,April 3rd. When we got to McCall there was a ton of snow, and it snowed most of the time we were there. Thank goodness we got a hotel with an indoor swimming pool! That is what the kids did a majority of the time we were there. We would eat breakfast, they would swim, then we would go eat lunch and then they would swim, and then we would eat dinner and then they would swim until bedtime. They had a blast, and Bill and I enjoyed the relaxation time. Samantha took a few pictures with her camera to capture some of our trip! Although most of them are pictures from our car that didn't turn out. Oh well!!!

Alyssa's Gymnastics Performance March,2011

Alyssa has been taking gymnastics at Tumble Time for the past couple of years, and has absolutely loved it. At the end of each term all the kids get to perform what they have learned in front of their parents, grandparents, siblings, etc. Today Alyssa did a parallel bar routine where she did a forward and backward roll over the bar, and then got to show us some tricks on the trampoline. Her class also got to show everyone one trick on the floor and she did a cartwheel. At the end she was awarded a medal that you can see her wearing around her neck.She did a great job!

Shane's Blue and Gold Banquet

A tropical Paradise

This year for Shane's Blue and Gold banquet, the scout leaders asked the boys to decorate a cake that had to do with a tropical theme. They had a Hawaiian Lua for all the families, which included dinner (hawaiian haystacks) and a program afterwards. They had some polynesian dancers come and perform dances fron the different islands of Hawaii. One of the girls in my young womens named Adrianna Lutu got up and did a dance from Samoa, where she is from. She had performed it in the Junior Miss pageant earlier this year. She did a great job. At the end they had the boy scouts get up and learn a dance from Tahiti called the Haka, were men shout, stomp, slap their bodies, and stick out their toungues. They performed it for all of us. It was right up Shane's alley-he likes to shout, stick his toungue out and make funny faces. He did good. I was sooooo mad I forgot to take my camera. These pictures are of Shane and the cake he made at home.

Shane's Spirit Week at School

Shane got to dress up for spirit week at school. Each day the had a different theme from the past years. Monday was the 50's, Tuesday was the 60's, Wednesday was the 70's, Thursday was the 80's, and Friday was the future. He tried to dress up most of the days. I only got pictures of him on 60's day and future day. He looked awesome.

Makayla's 1st Birthday

Makayla 1st birthday party

Makayla had a fun 1st birthday. The kids decorated the house with lots of balloons, streamers, and princess decorations. Makayla was the cutest princess there! She had lots of fun playing with the streamers, crape paper, boxes, and wrapping paper, but they all seamed to find a way to her mouth! We invited the Wall family over that evening for cake, icecream, games, and to watch Makayla open her presents. It was fun watching the kids all help her open her presents, and Shane helped her by blowing out her 1 candle. She ate some of her cake, but really didn't dig into it, and the ice cream was to cold. She did like the sugar cookies I made for the kids who don't like cake. I can't believe my baby girl is One Year Old.

Not so long after I was taking lots of pictures of Makayla, the kids took her into Samantha's room. I was under the impression that they were just playing with her, which was fine because I was able to get some things done. After quite some time, they came out of Samantha's room and asked if I wanted to see all the pictures they had taken of Makayla. I said sure, and was surprised at all the photos they had taken, Makayla was such a trooper to put up with all the background and prop changes. She was probably saying," What are these kids doing to me"!

Ice Skating

Alyssa got ice skates from Santa for Christmas this year, and was really anxious to try them out. So in January we took the kids ice skating at Ice World here in Boise. Grandma and Grandpa Scholes, and Ryan were with us. They didn't want to skate so they just watched. They also took care of Makayla so the whole family could skate. We had a lot of fun. The kids were naturals. They all fell a few times, but it didn't take them long to get the hang of it. Shane was already spinning in cirlcles, and trying tricks before we left. Samantha was kind of cautious as not to fall and get hurt, and Alyssa had no fear. She would fall down, and get right back up. After ice skating we all enjoyed a nice hot cup of hot chocolate. It was a fun family activity, and we will have to definately do it again! Alyssa resting and trying to warm up!

Shane getting his Bear Badge

In January Shane earned his bear badge in boy scouts. I realized later that we video taped most of it, but we didn't take any pictures. So these pictures are just of Shane in his Scout shirt. Shane also received a gold and silver arrow along with his bear badge. In our ward when the scouts earn their bear badge, they have to eat a piece of beef jerkey dangling from a string that either a leader or boy scout holds. They try to make it hard for them by moving the string everywhere, and the scouts are not aloud to use their hands. It is a lot of fun for the boys! We were very proud of him to get his bear badge so early. His birthday isn't until June. Way to go Shane!

I had a really fun birthday this year! I went into Samantha and Shane's class at school to help out, and Shane's class sang Happy Birthday to me! When I went into Samantha's class I heard 3-4 people say, "Happy Birthday Mrs. Scholes". I also got to go out to lunch with my sister Lora to Carino's. Thanks Lora! That evening we were going to have a barbeque, but it was rainy weather, so we postponed it a day, and my family took me to Cafe' 0le. I think my kids just like to see them sing to me and have me wear that lovely sombrero hat! After dinner we opened my presents. I got some wonderful gifts! I especially love the homemade ones my kids gave me! look at the beautiful artwork!

Samantha made me this key chain, and gave me a coupon book full of nice things. I wont have to make my bed, do the dishes, or sweep the floor for a while!

Multnomah Falls

We stopped at Multnomah Falls just outside of Portland on our way home. The Waterfall is beautiful, and the kids loved getting out of the car and running around. We got to walk over the Bridge and look down over the top of the lower water fall.

We stopped just outside of Newport and walked down to the beach. It was beautiful! There was a lighthouse not to far from us. It was pretty cold, so we didn't get wet, but the kids picked up some rocks, and shells. They had a fun time! Dad tried to get them with a big thing of seaweed!

On our trip to the Oregon Coast, we stopped in Newport. We saw the Sea Lions, ate at Mo's (had their world famous clam chowder, walked along the shops, and went to the beach. The kids had a lot of fun. They loved the sea lions.

It's been a long time!

It has been forever since I have put anything on my blog. I bet everyone has given up on it, wondering if I was ever going to add anything. We have had a fun past few months. In February Bill and I had a week without the kids (they went to grandpa and grandma's house). We had a nice time, a few nights out, and we took a night and went to the Anniversary Inn and stayed in the Romeo and Juliet Room. I will add some pictures of the room in a little bit.
Our family didn't have much going on in March, but the last few days in April we took the kids to the Oregon Coast, Celebrated moms 21st B-Day (ha ha ha), and had a really fun Easter. I now have pictures and things to actually blog.
The weather has been getting so much better! It is so nice to spend time outside!!

This weekend we had our family here in Boise to go to McCall for the winter festival. The cousins had so much fun playing together! They are very creative and came up with some dances to share with all of us! The older girls (Morgan and Samantha) taught the younger girls (Alyssa, Katelyn, and Kira) a dance, and Shane and Caleb made up their own.They were giving out tickets to their performances. Lucky me, I got a front row seat!

Celebrate!

At midnight the kids went outside and threw a bunch of confetti everywhere, and blew there party horns. Our neighbors were lighting fireworks, so the kids got to watch those too! It was a fun night!

All of my family got together here in Boise to celebrate Christmas and New years. We had everyone together, and that was alot of fun! We exchanged Christmas gifts, went shopping, made and launched rockets, went to the movies (Madagascar 2), had a baby blessing, and rang in the new year. YAAA 2009!!!

The day after Christmas we went to Bill's parents for the weekend. It was fun to see grandparents, Uncle Ryan, Uncle Alan, and Uncle Mike, Aunt JalyLyn, and cousin Xander. Samantha and Shane had fun downstairs playing the Wii with Uncle Ryan. Samantha especially liked the new High School Musical 3 dance game. Alyssa had fun playing with all the toys under the stairs.

My kids were so excited Christmas morning to wake up, and find that Santa had come to our house. The all got what they wanted. And we had an enjoyable morning opening our gifts.Bill and the girls with the gift Samantha made us (A 2009 Calendar with lots of beautiful artwork)

Christmas Eve Highlights

We had a fun christmas eve, as you can see from the following pictures.

The kids had a blast! Alyssa liked it, but I think she had just as much fun sitting in the back of the truck with mom watching her crazy brother and sister.

We went to my sister Lora's house that evening to decorate gingerbread houses and have a nice Christmas Eve dinner. The kids had fun decorating the gingerbread houses, and even more fun eating the candy!

Christmas Eve we came home from Lora's house and like every year our family read the nativity story from the scriptures. Samantha was Mary, Shane was Joseph, and Alyssa was baby Jesus (Ya, she is a little to old for that part, but she really wanted to be the baby). Then each year we let the kids open one gift on Christmas eve, and every year it happens to be pajama's and an ornament for the tree. Not much of a suprise, but then they get to wear their new pajama's to bed.

We had a busy weekend!

We took the kids to see Santa,wich is always lots of fun! There was no one in line, so we didn't have to wait! Saturday, Samantha and Shane both had there last basketball game. Samantha had her end of season party after her game where she got her trophy. Shane's coach delivered his trophy later because the trophys weren't done in time. Samantha had a cheer clinic on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday after school, and then she got to perform half-time at the Mountain View Varsity game. She had a blast doing it! Friday night, Mom got to go to an Enrichment Christmas meeting where we ate, exchanged Christmas goodies, told Christmas stories, and had hot chocolate. This weekend between ward parties, and basketball games we were able to decorate the house, put up our lights, and decorate our Christmas tree! Our house is starting to look and feel like Christmas time!! I love this time of year!

Samantha and Shane both won awards in the Reflections Program this year at their school. Their school does this every year, and last year Shane decided to enter and won a prize, so this year they both wanted to enter. Samantha's Marble Art won 1st place and Shane's canvas painting of Pichacu won 3rd. The kids were so excited to have won! We went to the awards show at their school in the evening, and they got a certificate, a ribbon, and a free ice cream certificate! I've got some young artists on my hands!

I can't believe it! My little one turned 3!!! Alyssa had a fun birthday. We decorated the house, and Alyssa's aunt Lora and Uncle Justin and their family came over for cake and ice cream, and Alyssa opened her presents! The kids played with their cousins, and they all had a blast playing with all the balloons Samantha and Shane blew up! They also had an airplane flying contest with all the paper airplanes Shane had made. Alyssa and Kira played dress up with Alyssa's new dress up clothes. It was a fun evening! Shane got and Academic Award the week of Thanksgiving. He has been doing really well in school, and he has already surpassed his reading goal for the end of the year! Way to go Shane!!! We are so proud of you! He was recognized in front of parents and families in the morning, and then again in front of the school at the assembly. He got a certificate, a pin, and a new red bag! He was so excited!

We hope everyone had a fun Halloween! This year we had a lot of fun on Halloween. We went to our wards Trunk-or-treat, and then dropped Samantha off at a halloween party, while the rest of us went trick-or-treating with some friends from our neighborhood. The kids had a lot of fun dressing up, and loved getting lots of candy. Alyssa kept looking in her bag at the candy and saying,"I got lots and lots and lots".

California Trip Day 8

Day 8 (Saturday) Fly Home
We woke up and left our hotel 3 hours early to catch our plane. We knew it would take an hour and a half to drive there, but we thought we would have plenty of time. Well, we hit a lot of traffic and were at a stand still for a long time, needless to say we missed our flight by 3 minutes. Can you believe it! We got to the check-in counter at the airport and she said, We closed boarding 3 minutes ago (the plane was not scheduled to leave for another 35-40 minutes or so). So, we had to take a $70.00 shuttle ride to the LAX airport and fly out 4 hours later. We flew into SLC (thanks Melissa and Chris for picking us up) and had to drive home in order to make it to church and early meetings the next day.

Day 7 (Friday) Coronado Beach, Swim at Hotel, High School Musical 3 Movie

Today was our free day to do whatever we wanted. We slept in, and then walked down to the beach from our hotel, shopped a little at the shops, swam at the pool at the hotel, and then Samantha, Shane, Me, Cheyenne, and Cary went to see the new HSM 3 movie. The rest went and ate at a Harbor Fish and Chips and watched the Boise State Football game in our room. What a fun day, and vacation! Too bad it was over!!

Day 5 (Wednesday) Knotts Berry Farm

We spent day five at Knotts Berry Farm! Our family had a blast! There was absolutely NO lines, so we could walk onto the rides, and then when they were done, they asked if we would like to stay on and go again! We watched a few shows, went on lots of roller coasters, went on the raft water ride, and a lot more exciting rides! Grandma and Grandpa took the two littlest, Alyssa and Michael, for a while on some kiddie rides while the rest of us went on all the big rides! One of the kids favorite was a rollercoaster that you rode like a horse. You sat in a saddle like chair and went on it. I liked the one that takes you up and drops you 1000 feet, and the roller coaster that you went on forwards, and then you went back through it backwards! FUN!!! There was also a big twirling swing one I loved too! I didn't take many pictures this day, a few of the kids on the kiddie rides when we first got there and with Snoopy.

We spent the day at California adventure. Some of the highlights were, the roller coaster- California screamer, Tower of Terror, Raft ride, Soaring over California, watching the Playhouse Disney show, the Pixar Parade, talking with Crush from finding Nemo, learning how to Draw Disney Characters, and being the commanders on the Zepher.

Day 2 (Sunday- Bill's Birthday) Coronado Beach,

and Silverstrands Beach (San Diego).

Sunday we got up and walked to the beach from our hotel. Their was a path that lead to the beach. There was a harbor with a lot of boats, and gift shops along the way. When we got to the beach, there was a local surf contest between the high schools. It was fun to watch them, and the kids had a blast looking for shells. Later that afetnoon we drove down to San Diego to Silverstrands Beach. The kids got dirty in the sand, and braved the big waves! The Birthday boy even got in and got wet! He and the others tried their luck on a Boggie board. That night we had ding dongs (no cake at their walmart) and icecream in the hotel with all of Bills family!

This year Bill's birthday (Oct. 19th) fell on a Sunday we were in California on Vacation. These pictures were taken the day before at my brother Chris' house. We flew out of Salt Lake the day before Bills birthday. We didn't want to haul his presents to California and back, so we had a little party for him in Utah before we flew out. This past weekend we took a family trip to Yellowstone National Park. We had a lot of fun. We went through Island Park and made a few stops along the way. We stopped to see Mesa Falls, and Big Springs. We stayed that night at a Hotel and the kids got to swim. It had a fun indoor pool with a big tube slide. All day Saturday we drove through the park. We got to see some wild life, the hot pots, some waterfalls, and of course the Old Faithful Geyser. On the way home we got to stay at Grandpa and Grandma Hughes house. We missed seeing them (they were camping that weekend in Star Valley). The kids had fun playing in her preschool room. On Sunday we headed back to Boise. We stopped at Bill's parents in Pocetello and had dinner with them and Ryan, and watched some of General Conference. It was a really fun weekend!

After the Marathon, we went to my Uncle Deans and Aunt Kristen's house for lunch. Uncle Dean saddled up one of his horses and gave all the kids a ride. They had a lot of fun! This weekend we went to Logan, Utah to watch my Dad and Brother run a marathon. My dad has ran a number of Marathons, but he always had a goal of being able to still run a Marathon when he was 60 years old! He did it, and we are so proud of both him and Chris! Labor Day Weekend in Priest River

Our Family spent Labor day weekend up in Priest River with My sister Jenny and her Husband Tony. We had soooooo much fun! A GREAT BIG THANKS to them for letting us come up and showing us such a great time. We spent most of the time on the river boating, jetskiing, bumpertubing, skiing, knee boarding, and sailing, along with playing at the beaches. We also drove into Sandpoint one night for dinner overlooking the lake. It had rained so their was a beautiful double rainbow over the water AMAZING! All the fun and beauty up there in Northern Idaho, almost makes us want to move up there. We also stopped at Dubs (I think that is what it was called) an icecream store in Sandpoint after dinner to treat ourselves to some yummy ice cream and to reward the kids for helping uncle Tony split his wood. The kids thought helping was pretty cool.

The weekend was a blast except for Alyssa getting sick. She got the stomach flu and has since past it on to Linda, Shane, and Samantha. Bill cross your fingers you don't get it!

On the way home we got to stop in Couerd A'lene to see Uncle Mike, Aunt JayLyn, and Baby Xander. Thanks for meeting us , showing us your new office, and having lunch with us.

Bill's big news is he got a new motorcycle out of the trip! He bought Tony's Road Bike. He is very excited to have it. I will take some pictures add it on the blog soon.

Samantha and Shane had picture day at school on Thursday. Before they left for school I took some pictures of them inside our house and also outside by our tree. They turned out really cute, so I thought I would share them with you. I also took pictures of Alyssa in her cute pink dress.

Twin Falls Temple Trip

This past weekend our Family went to the open house of the Twin Falls, Idaho Temple. We met Bill's parents in Twin and had lunch with them and then went to the open house. The kids had a good time. Samantha was very excited to go, because she has always wanted to see inside a temple. She is also excited because she is old enough to go to see the dedication at our Stake Center on the 24th. Shane and Samantha's favorite room was the baptistry with the 12 oxen around the font. Samantha also loved the celestial room. Alyssa was a trooper. It got kind of long (2-2 1/2 hours we were there). The only part she didn't like was having to wear the plastic covers on her feet. That kind of freaked her out and she started crying. It didn't last to long, we took them off and had dad carry her. They also liked the water in the front on the Temple,that depicted Shashone Falls. It was a neat experience for our whole family. I am glad we went!

The end of July we went to a family reunion at Bear Lake. The kids had a lot of fun playing at the beach. They got to look for sea shells, dig in the sand, jump on the water trampoline, and even got to go boating. Samantha and Shane both Waterskiied for their first time, and Samantha loved riding on the big bumper tube. Alyssa rode on the bumpertube with mommy, but didn't enjoy it to much. It scared her a little bit! Bill and Linda got to ski too! It was a lot of fun, and we hope to be able to go to the reunion more often.

Samantha and Shane's 1st day of School!!!

Summer went by way too fast, wait... it's still summer, the kids are just back in school, so it feels like summer is over. The kids had a great 1st day back at school. Samantha is in 4th grade and Shane is in 2nd grade. Samantha's teacher is Mrs. Brenna and Shane's teacher is Mrs. Nicholson. They both seam really nice, and the kids have enjoyed their classes so far. I took these pictures in the backyard when the kids got home from school. They have their new back packs with them. Alyssa is not in school, but wants to be. She wants to do everything Samantha and Shane do. Therefore she needed to have her picture taked too, just like her older sister and brother.

Samantha had a fun birthday. It started out with swimming lessons, and then after lunch I took her, Shane, and Caleb to Artist for a Day. They got to pick out what ceramic they wanted to paint, and then paint it whatever colors they wanted. They had a fun time. Samantha picked a mermaid and seahorse, Shane did a skull piggybank, and Caled chose a rabbit. When they were done painting, they left their ceramic there, and they will glaze and fire it, and we can pick it up in a week.

Samatha's party started at 6:00. She got to invite 4 friends to come and go to a movie with her. Only two could come, but they had a lot of fun. We went to see Wall-E. Caleb (Samantha's Cousin)also came to see the movie with us. The three girls sat in the back row by themselves, and the rest of us sat a little closer. We had pop, candy, and popcorn. It was a cute movie!

After the Movie we came back home and had Samantha open her presents, hit open the pinata, and have cake and ice cream. Lora, Justin, and Kira (Aunt, Uncle, & Cousin) came over for the evening to celebrate with Samantha. The party ended at 10:00 pm. I think everyone had a fun time.

Time for cake and ice cream. As you can see we made a High School Musical Cake. Samantha made the Strawberry Cake, helped frost it, put on the sprinkles, and we added a HSM Megaphone.

4th of July

We had a fun 4th of July this year! We went to Settler's Park with the Wall family. The park has a fun water area that the kids love to play in, and lots of toys to play on. Samantha and Shane love the tire swing, and Alyssa likes the big purple swing. We went around lunch time and took a picnic. Later that evening we went to the Boise parade. I think the favorite part for the kids was all the candy they got. After the parade we ate dinner and then went to Ann Morrison Park for the fireworks. After the fireworks we came home and lit off our own fireworks.

This week has been really fun! I took the kids to the free movies at the Edwards. Tuesday we watched Pirates who don't do anything (a veggie tale movie), and then on Wednesday we took Samantha and Shane's cousin Caleb to the movies with us to see, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Afterwards we ate lunch with Lora, Caleb, and Kira at our house, and Caleb stayed to play for the day. We got the slip-n-slide out, and as you can see they had a lot of fun! After dinner we took Caleb home and Samantha and Shane stayed for a sleep over. They had a lot of fun! Thanks Lora.

Thursday we took the kids to Roaring Springs water park. That was a lot of fun too. Alyssa had a blast in the kiddie pool area, and Samantha and Shane loved going on all the big waterslide attractions. The wave pool, and endless river were also big hits.

Friday was the 4th of July and we had a fun time. I will add pictures and blog more latter, when I get some pictures back from Lora.

Shane celebrated his 7th birthday earlier this month. He had a pokemon birthday party at Storey Park in Meridian. He had a lot of friends from school and church come. They ate pizza, played at the park, played a few games, hit open a pokemon pinata, and had cake and ice cream. He had a lot of fun, and we were lucky to get nice weather, because it had rained the whole week before. After his party we came home and he opened his presents from the family. He is one spoiled kid!! It was a fun day, but we were all exhausted by the evening.

The kids went to grandma and grandpa Scholes all last week, and had a blast (Thanks grandpa and grandma)! Shane came home with a space book and all sorts of space things to put together. This morning before church Shane and dad sat down and finished their planet project. Shane was so proud of it, he hung it above his bed, so he could sleep under the planets every night.

Then tonight I went outside and found him and dad making a waterfall contraption. It was pretty cool. Shane would fill the blue bucket with water, it would tip over and spill over the skateboard and fill up the cupcake tin. What an imagination!! I love my boys!!!

Samantha got her trophy today at her end of season party. It is a medal and a trophy. The medal sits in the tropy stand, or you can wear it around your neck. Samantha thought it was pretty cool. It has her school colors on the medal (blue and green).

As many of you know, Samantha and Shane played baseball this summer for the first time. Samantha was on the LA Dogers team, and Shane was on the Chicago Cubs team. They both did really well, and had a fun time playing. This weekend was Shane's last game and award party(Thanks uncle Chris, Justin, and Caleb for coming to watch his and Samantha's games). We went to Primo's after and ate pizza, and the kids got their trophy's. Shane was really excited to get his trophy. Samantha's last game is tomorrow, and when we get pictures of her and her trophy we will add it to the others. They both have had a wonderful season, with excellent coaches. We are so proud of them.

Here is a video of Shane batting. It took a few swings, but he got a good hit right down the 1st base line. He was the last batter so he was suppose to run all the bases, even if he got out, which he did. (This video is taking forever to download, so hopefully it will work!)
